Lady Gaga named highest-earning female artist
The 'Born This Way' star claimed the top spot in the Top-Earning Women In Music list compiled by Forbes, who revealed that the singer made $90 million (£58 million) this year.
She raked in double the income of the second place artist, Taylor Swift, whose earnings for 2011 stand at $45 million (£29 million). Katy Perry came in third with an income of $44 million (£28 million) for the year, while Beyonce and Rihanna rounded out the top five with figures of $35 million (£22.6 million) and $29 million (£18.7 million) respectively.
Adele, meanwhile, was the only British star to feature on the list, as the success of her record-breaking album '21' helped her net $18 million (£11.6 million).
The 10 top-earning female artists in 2011 were as follows:

Last week, Lady Gaga revealed that she was scared of dying like Princess Diana and had written a song inspired by the late royal icon.
The singer has also said she has chosen a name for a new album and has already started working on the LP, despite only releasing her last album 'Born This Way' in May this year.
