Adele to make live comeback at Grammy Awards

Adele to make live comeback at Grammy Awards

Adele has confirmed that she will make her live comeback at the 2012 Grammy Awards on February 12.

The '21' star released a statement confirming her long-rumoured performing at the ceremony, which will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Her appearance will take place shortly before she makes her UK live comeback at the O2 Arena on February 21 for this year's Brit Awards.

The singer said she was "immensely proud" to be playing her first live performance since she went under the knife to have vocal chord microsurgery in America last year, in order to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp. Her condition had forced her to cancel all of her remaining live dates of 2011, as she scrapped 10 scheduled dates in North America and six shows in the UK in order to have the surgery.

She said:

It's an absolute honour to be included in such a night and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.

Adele also took to Twitter to confirm the news, writing: "Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys. It's been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can't wait, speak soon xx"

Adele is among the nominees for this year's Grammy Awards, having been shortlisted for Album Of The Year for ‘21’ and Best Solo Pop performance.

Kanye West leads this year’s nominations, with seven nods while Foo Fighters are just behind him with six.

The Beach Boys, who announced their comeback last month, have also hinted that they may perform at the event, with guitarist Al Jardine promising a "surprise" which will be "very exciting".
