Pumpkin news...
In December, our T. Cole Rachel discussed the current state of the Smashing Pumpkins with none other than Billy Corgan, who gave Cole a few notes on what to expect from that outfit’s new album, Oceania:
STEREOGUM: I was just curious how the record — Oceania — came together and were the songs that are ultimately on that record also songs that were part of Teargarden or are they separate songs?Today, that record got a summer release date and a track listing, which you can check out below.
CORGAN: Almost all new. There were a few songs that were from the original demos that had been sort of overlooked, that I went back and kind of re — the basic story was that we’d gone to Sedona at the beginning of this year to quote unquote “write the record,” and it kind of wasn’t going where we wanted it to go, but we were really confused because everybody in the band is very capable and we get along and we like working together, so we were trying to come up with the record and we could feel it there but we couldn’t locate it, it wasn’t clicking. So I had this moment where I really needed to think about this, so I say let’s take a break. And everybody went home. We’re in Sedona, Arizona, and about a week after that, everybody went home, and I was still there, working on my book. Mark Tulin, our friend and bassist from the Electric Prunes, died suddenly of a heart attack on Catalina –- he was doing a beach cleanup and just collapsed at 62 and just died -– so a week after we had parted as a band we were all back together for Mark’s funeral. It really, really shook me up and I can’t explain why. I mean he was a close friend, but it shook me up in a way I just couldn’t explain and something about it just led to this weird journey of like “OK I’m gonna go back and listen to all the work I did with Mark at the beginning of this process with Teargarden and then reexamine all this stuff that we’ve done recently.” And it took me on this weird journey of “What am I doing?” and “Why am I even bothering anymore?” and I had this kind of weird epiphany where I realized that some part of me was disengaged. And in a weird kind of way to honor Mark I thought, “I’m not gonna run away from that part of myself anymore. I’m actually gonna go there.” And that opened me up and a lot of the songs were figured out in the next six weeks. And we started convening in Chicago in April. And then worked about five and a half months straight, and the band would come and go at various times depending on who needed to do what. And that’s it.

sad JET news....
Jet split up
The band released three studio albums during their career and sold over 6.5 million records. Their 2003 debut 'Get Born', which contained the hit singles 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl?', 'Cold Hard Bitch' and 'Rollover DJ', sold over 3.5 million copies alone. They released their last album 'Shaka Rock' in 2009.
The band posted a statement about their split, which reads as follows: "After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group."
They continued: "From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and good night."
The group, who consisted of brothers Nic and Chris Cester, Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson, have promised that they will attempt to keep "their music, legacy and brand alive through new licensing, publishing, merchandise, re-records and releases".
All members will now focus on new projects, with Nic Cester and Mark Wilson already involved in a new band called DamnDogs.

Madonna's 'Girl Gone Wild' video too 'raunchy' for YouTube
The singer's promo has been banned from open view on YouTube for being too "raunchy" and is not available to view by anyone under 18. The video site has told the singer's management to re-edit the video if they want the restrictions lifted, according to the New York Post.
The newspaper quotes a source, who said: "YouTube has decided the video is too raunchy and should only be viewed by those 18 or over, and actually, the video is hard to find on the site. YouTube has sent Madonna’s team a list of shots that should be cut to make it appropriate for everyone.”
The list of scenes YouTube want cut from the erotically-charged video include the shots of male bottoms, a man rubbing his crotch and an S&M scene.
A YouTube spokesperson stated: "While we don't comment on individual videos, we review all videos flagged by our users against our community guidelines. In some cases we restrict flagged material that, while not in violation of those guidelines, contains images that may be unsuitable for younger users."
Madonna’s manager, Liz Rosenberg, added: “Some things never change. This is a throwback to [1990] when MTV refused to show ‘Justify My Love'."
The video for 'Girl Gone Wild' was directed by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Madonna's 12th studio album, 'MDNA', is out Monday (March 26).
Since I can't attach the video to my site, I've simply put a link from The Entertainment Weekly website.

Lady Gaga news....
Lady Gaga gets her 'ass kicked' on tour rehearsals '
It was reported that the singer earns $30 million (£18.9 million) through her Twitter account.
The Wall Street Journal claims that the 'Born This Way' star has built up such a strong relationship with her followers on the social media site that it is worth one third of the reported $90 million (£56.9 million) that she made last year.
Last month (February 24), Lady Gaga used her Twitter account to respond after her 'Born This Way' LP was dubbed the "most pretentious album ever" by NME. She wrote: "Oh the irony of winning "Most Pretentious Album Ever" from none other than NME. *eyeroll* I might laugh forever + then return to narcissism."
Lady Gaga is feeling the strain from the gruelling rehearsals for her world tour, which kicks off next month.
The 'Edge of Glory' singer has tweeted that she is getting her "ass kicked" from the demanding workouts preparing her for the new tour. The 'Born This Way Ball' world tour starts in Seoul, South Korea on April 27 and will run until 2013

Beatles news...
The Beatles' 'Yellow Submarine' remastered for re-release
Animated film and album to be re-released in MayThe Beatles' 1968 animated move and accompanying album, Yellow Submarine, has been restored to be re-released on May 28.
The team behind the new release decided against the usual practice of using automated software to digitally clean up the film. Instead, due to the "delicate nature of the hand-drawn original artwork", the team up-dated the film frame-by-frame.
Yellow Submarine, based on the song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, follows the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, as they travel to a city under the sea to confront the music hating Blue Meanies.
The re-packaged film will also feature a short making-of documentary, audio commentaries, behind-the-scene photographs and a 16-page booklet that includes an essay by Pixar and Walt Disney chief, John Lasseter.
In the sleeve-notes, Lasseter writes: "As a fan of animation and as a filmmaker, I tip my hat to the artists of Yellow Submarine, whose revolutionary work helped pave the way for the fantastically diverse world of animation that we all enjoy today."
Ahead of the Yellow Submarine DVD and Blu-Ray and the repackaged soundtrack, Candlewick Press will publish a book of the screenplay from the movie on April 26. The publishers promise the book will showcase "the light-hearted wit of the film's script".

Linkin Park news...
Linkin Park: 'Our last album was bonkers'
Linkin Park have admitted that they went overboard with the experimentation on their last album 'A Thousand Suns', a record which frontman Chester Bennington has described as "bonkers".
The band are currently working on their fifth album in their Los Angeles studio and are set to release it in the summer, with Bennington promising that they will return to more familiar territory on the new album.
Speaking to Kerrang! about the band's plans for the new album and how it compared to 'A Thousand Suns', the singer said: "With this album, we've incorporated a lot of guitar work with big choruses and the heavier electronic stuff to give it that really big wall of sound feeling without getting too metal. This will be more familiar to people than 'A Thousand Suns' was, where we were like 'Fuck it, we're just going to go bonkers."
Bennington also admitted that the band had very consciously tried to "break out of the nu-metal box" on their previous two studio albums and they were feeling a lot more comfortable this time round.
He added: "Over the previous two records, we were trying hard to break out of the nu-metal box that we'd found ourselves in. It's very easy to characterise us as that based on 'Hybrid Theory' and 'Meteora', but we knew there was more to us than that. With the exception of the metal guitar tone we had on the first two records – which, I think is the reason that a lot of people really like the band – I feel like we've found a place where we've become in our skin."
The singer also said that the new album's lyrics would be personal and avoid being political, adding: "We've been writing a lot about relationships. We're not a political band, we're a socially minded band. We try to look at things that we find in the world that we'd like to see more of, or that we'd like to see less of."

LANA DEL REY updates....
Lana Del Rey unveils dramatic new video for 'Blue Jeans'
The video, which is entirely black and white, features Del Rey in a swimsuit playing in a pool with actor Bradley Soileau, the same actor who co-starred in her video for 'Born To Die'.
The promo for 'Blue Jeans' has been directed by Yoann Lemoine and serves as a prequel for the 'Born To Die' promo, showing the early, happy days of a relationship, which ends very badly in the 'Born To Die' video. You can see a still of Del Rey and Soileau in the video on the right hand side of your screen.
An unofficial version of the video emerged yesterday (March 19), but was swiftly removed after complaints from Del Rey's record label. Reaction to the video from online commentators has been mixed, with some admiring the video's look and others commenting negatively on Del Rey's choice to spend the whole video in a swimsuit.
Lana Del Rey, who released her debut album 'Born To Die' in January of this year, was added to the line-up for this year's Isle Of Wight Festival earlier this month.
The singer, who is also scheduled to perform at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Hackney in June, will play a 45-minute set in the festival's Big Top Tent on the festival's opening night (June 22). The festival, which will be headlined by Pearl Jam, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, takes place from June 22–24 next summer.

Nice move by Liam....
Liam Gallagher: 'Beady Eye will play Oasis songs this summer'
Gallagher continued: "The time is right now, without a doubt. We were always going to do it, but we thought the [Beady Eye] album needed to stand on its own. We've done some good gigs, we've done some shit gigs. And it's time to drop them in now. Everyone else is. I feel they're just as much my songs as they are Noel's. And if people don't like it, go to the bar or fuck off. If they do like it, jump up and down, let's have a good time."
The comments came after Liam was voted the greatest frontman of all time by listeners of the station earlier this month.
Check out a classic from 2009. I've seen them 3 times and they never disappoint.
One day they'll reform!
Beady Eye will finally play Oasis songs live this summer, Liam Gallagher has confirmed.
The band, who Gallagher formed after Noel left Oasis in 2009, have so far avoided playing anything but their own songs and covers during gigs. Speaking ahead of Beady Eye's debut gigs in March 2011, Gallagher declared the band would not be playing Oasis songs live after claiming it "wouldn't feel right" to do so without Noel Gallagher.
Noel has regularly played Oasis songs live, including the likes of 'Don't Look Back In Anger' and 'Half The World Away', which were both in his setlist when he played at the NME Awards last month (February 29) to celebrate being given this year's Godlike Genius award.
Liam has now said Beady Eye will follow suit and include Oasis songs in their set at Japan's Fuji Festival in July. He told XFM:

Westboro Baptist Church: 'Radiohead are freak monkeys with mediocre tunes'
A Radiohead show in Kansas City, USA was picketed on March 11 by the Westboro Baptist Church.
The fundamentalist Christian group gathered outside the Sprint Centre in Missouri to protest the show from the Oxford rockers, with the band's long-time cohort Nigel Godrich posting a picture from the demonstration on his Twitter page and claiming it was the "highlight of the tour".
In a statement posted on their website, the controversial religious organization described Thom Yorke and co as "freak monkeys with mediocre tunes", going on to add: "You try to get the people to look at the nonsense and not the Wrath of God that abides upon them. 'Look at the circus monkey over there and the fluffy setting, blah blah…'. "

Rage Against The Machine demand US shock jock Rush Limbaugh stop playing their songs
Rage Against The Machine have demanded that US right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh stop playing their track 'Sleep Now In The Fire' on his radio show.Limbaugh hosts the talk show 'The Rush Limbaugh Show', which is the most popular talk-radio show in the US and he played the 1999 single on Thursday night (March 8) during his broadcast.
When made aware of this, Morello tweeted via Twitter.com/tmorello in response: "To Rush Limbaugh: Hey Jackass, stop using our music on your racist, misogynist, right wing clown show. Sincerely, Rage Against The Machine."
Rage Against The Machine are not the first group to complain about being played on Limbaugh's show. Former Genesis man Peter Gabriel has also taken steps to remove his song 'Sledgehammer' from Limbaugh's playlist and the prog rock behemouths Rush have also threatened the shock jock with legal action if he continues to play their music.
In both Gabriel and Rush's cases, they have demanded the removal of their songs after the shock jock attracted an avalanche of criticism for labeling law student Sandra Fluke "a slut" and "a prostitute" after she spoke in favour of making contraception part of the coverage US health insurance companies have to provide. Over 50 advertisers have since withdrawn their ads from Limbaugh's show.

Ex- Guns N' Roses' bassist Duff McKagan: 'I doubt we'll play at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame'
He went on to add: "There's been no communication about anyone playing. There was probably a day in the mid-1990s where I would have tried to gather the troops, but I'm just not that guy anymore. It's too frustrating to change anyone else… I'm not even sure I'd want to change how anyone else sees the situation. But I'm going."
The current line-up of Guns N' Roses, meanwhile, are set to tour the UK later this year. The band, who are currently working on new material for the follow-up to 'Chinese Democracy', will play seven shows across the UK as part of a full European tour this May.
Former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan has said he doesn't think the band's classic line-up will play together at their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in April.
Last month (February 15), it was reported that all the members who had contributed to the band's seminal album 'Appetite For Destruction' would be attending the ceremony, which takes place in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14.
However, in an interview with Rolling Stone, McKagan said he thought it was unlikely that former members such as himself, Slash or Steven Adler would play live with singer Axl Rose at the show.
Asked if he thought the band would reunite and play, he replied:

I think it would be killer. Do I hope to? That's a tricky question. It would be awesome. You have those day dreams like, 'We'll go up and play 'Nightrain' and 'Brownstone' and throw down the microphone and drop off! That'll be killer! But I doubt that'll happen.

updated Fiona Apple news...
Fiona Apple names her fourth studio album after a 23-word poem
Fiona Apple has revealed that she will release her new album in late June and that the record will be named after a 23-word long poem.
The album, which is Apple's fourth, has the full title of 'The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw, And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do'. It is the follow-up to her 2005 third album 'Extraordinary Machine'.
It is the second time in Apple's career that she has named her album after a lengthy poem. In 1999 she released her second album, which has the full title of 'When The Pawn Hits The Conflicts He Thinks Like A King. What He Knows Throws The Blows When He Goes To The Fight. And He'll Win The Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters The Ring. There's No Body To Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might. So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand. And Remember That Depth Is The Greatest Of Heights. And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where To Land. And If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cause You'll Know That You're Right'.
The title of Apple's second album is the longest ever, according to the Guinness Book Of World Records, and contains 90 words in total.
Apple will tour the US in June in support of her fourth album, playing eight shows in total. It is her first tour of any kind for five years.

At least in theory, SXSW is supposed to be about discovering emerging and ascendent bands, but the fest just keeps adding big names: Bruce Springsteen, Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, John Mayer, T.I., Nas, the Shins, and — now — Jay-Z, arguably the biggest name and best live performer in rap history. Last year, Jay was a surprise guest at Kanye West’s pretty-great G.O.O.D. Music extravaganza. And this year, he’ll have the stage to himself on Monday night — before most of the music people show up — for some sort of American Express-sponsored show. As MTV reports, Jay’s set will be live-streamed on American Express’s YouTube page. No venue has been announced yet. Good luck getting in!
Red Hot Chili Peppers - quick news
Red Hot Chili Peppers' John Frusciante will not attend Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction
Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante will not attend the band's induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April.
The band will be inducted along with the Faces/Small Faces, Guns N' Roses and Beastie Boys at a ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 14 and drummer Chad Smith has revealed that although most of the band's former members will be attending, Frusciante will not.
Frusciante left the group before the recording of new album 'I'm With You' began and was replaced by former Warpaint man Josh Klinghoffer. He has since pursued a variety of solo projects.
Speaking to Billboard about Frusciante and the band's induction, Smith said of the band's former guitarist: "He didn't feel comfortable coming, which we totally respect. We asked him. He said, 'I'm just not really comfortable with that, but good luck and thanks for inviting me.' It was all good. He's the kind of guy, I think, that once he's finished with something he's just on to the next phase of his life. The Chili Peppers are not really on his radar right now.''
The drummer did confirm though that the band's former members Jack Irons and Cliff Martinez will perform at the ceremony with them.
Smith also revealed that the band have been using their time-off before their summer tour dates to write new material, saying: "We just rehearsed and came up with some ideas and new song ideas and stuff and played together for two weeks, and it was really fun."
Asked if this meant people could expect work to begin on the follow-up to 2011's 'I'm With You' soon, Smith added: "Normally in Chili Peppers world we never really had this much of a kind of break in a tour. Before, if we had a month off, we would never get together and write song ideas; we always wrote songs when it was time for an album cycle. But everyone just wanted to play."

quick Coldplay news....
Coldplay's Chris Martin denies that he regrets 'Mylo Xyloto' album title.
Martin recently downplayed the band's success at the Brit Awards, claiming they only won Best British Group because there were no other bands to chose from.
"To be honest, most British bands have split up," he said. "Blur have gone, Pulp have gone, Take That are on holiday, we're the only British band left on the pitch! But we'll take that."
They beat Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and Elbow to the gong. Meanwhile, Coldplay will kick off their first North American tour in nearly three years on April 17.
'Mylo Xyloto' is Coldplay's fifth studio album and was released in October last year. You can watch a video featuring the band's 10 best songs by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.
Coldplay's Chris Martin has denied that he regrets calling the band's recent album 'Mylo Xyloto'.
Last weekend (March 3), the frontman told US TV show Good Morning America that it had been a mistake to choose a title that people were unable to pronounce properly, stating: "It's just something that we thought looked really good but everywhere we go around the world people pronounce it in the most crazy ways and we're beginning to regret it now."
However, the singer has now taken to Twitter to insist that he still liked the album's name and his comment, which was supposed to be a joke, had been blown out of proportion.

No regrets at all about Mylo Xyloto as album title. We love it. Only regret attempting JOKE on early morning TV. CM

Limp Bizkit and Lil Wayne to release joint single 'Ready To Go'
Limp Bizkit and Lil Wayne are set to release a joint single called 'Ready To Go' next week.

It'll be a great way to let the world know that [Limp Bizkit] is a part of us. It's rock, but it's hip-hop-rock. I think we got that hip-hop-rock swagger.
Williams added that when Limp Bizkit return from their current Australian tour, they will begin work on their first album for Cash Money. He said: "They're just gonna go in and get it done. We're looking to put an album out this year, but right now we're dropping the single... and we're gonna vibe from there. "
"Fred [Durst]'s all the way in - he understands what we're about, hard work and dedication. To me, they're one of the hardest workers in the business."
Of signing a rock band to a predominantly hip hop label, Williams said: "If we find some great talent, we're gonna embrace it. Limp Bizkit, to me, is just a perfect match for us... It was something that [Durst] was interested in doing, and I was already a fan, and I was like, 'Let's do it.' It's good for the brand, it will bring a different look for us, and we're definitely trying to expand on that side of music."
Limp Bizkit were dropped at the end of 2011 by Interscope after their sixth studio album 'Gold Cobra' sold poorly.
