MGMT Get Bombarded by Shoes at California Surf Event -- check out the vid below!

Austin Powers once famously asked, "Who throws a shoe? Honestly?" Well James Richardson of MGMT learned this weekend that a gigantic crowd of festivalgoers will readily throw their sneakers, sandals or whatever else they're wearing if you ask them to.

Speaking to the audience at US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif., Richardson yelled, "I don't think you guys got crazy enough yet! Everybody give me your left shoe, right now!" and was promptly pelted with assorted footwear. After dodging the barrage he conceded "That was probably a bad idea."

Now we all know what not to do when in front of gigantic crowds willing to comply with the most outlandish requests. Next time, ask for something soft..!!
