Kings Of Leon slam Qantas Airways for 'fucking up' their tour plans!

Photo: Photo: PA

Kings Of Leon's Nathan Followill has slammed Qantas Airways after the carrier's flight cancellations 'fucked up' the band's tour plans.

Flights from the Australian airline have remained grounded for a second day today (October 30) after a row between management and three of its unions over proposed job cuts.

This has forced the Followills to take diverted flights to reach their rescheduled gigs Down Under next week, something that has rankled the drummer.

Writing on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/doctorfollowill, the drummer said:

Dear Qantas, u suck, thanks 4 fucking up my trip 2 Oz. Joberg-Dubai-Sydney. 24 hours in the air. That's how much I love Oz.

He added: "The silver lining is that we are throwing one hell of a halloween party on the plane. I'm going as the drunk guy in seat 5a."

The band played in Johannesburg, South Africa last night (29) and are due to kick off their Australian dates next Friday (November 4) at Sydney's Acer Arena, with shows in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth also pencilled in.

The gigs, originally slated for March, were rescheduled after Nathan sustained an arm injury in January, putting him out of action for three months.

Meanwhile, scroll down and click below to watch an exclusive clip from Talihina Sky, a documentary about Kings Of Leon which is due to be released on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday (2) after its cinema screenings earlier this year.

U2's Bono: 'We have to make hits if we are to survive'

U2 frontman Bono has questioned the band's future again, declaring that if the four-piece are to "survive" they need to come back with an album of hits.

The singer admitted they have struggled to produce hit singles over the last few years especially on their last LP 'No Line On The Horizon' with the first single off the record 'Get On Your Boots' failing to chart in the Top 10 while the remaining singles didn't even get into the Top 20.

Bono made the admission as the band prepare to re-issue their 1991 seminal album 'Achtung Baby', which spawned Number One chart topper 'The Fly', on Monday (October 31).

He told The Sun: "We've been on the verge of irrelevance for the last 20 years, dodged, ducked, dived, made some great work, I hope along the way and the occasional faux pas.

"But this moment now, for me feels like really close to the edge of relevance. We can be successful and we can play the big music and the big places.

Whether we can play music for small speakers of the radio or clubs or where people are living right now, remains to be seen, we have to go to that place again if we are to survive.

The singer recently said he would be happy if U2 wrapped up their career now. He added that if the four-piece do return it will be some time before they re-surface.

BEADY EYE 'ACROSS THE UNIVERSE' THE BEATLES @ JAPAN CONCERT, 02 BRIXTON ...

Beady Eye's Liam Gallagher still pushing for Oasis reunion in 2015

Photo: Photo: Andy Whitton/NME

Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher is still pushing for an Oasis reunion in 2015 despite his brother Noel Gallagher flatly denying that will ever happen.

The singer said there is a strong possibility that the band will still get back together to mark the 20th anniversary of their seminal album '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' in 2015 because he believes the pair will have both "grown up" by then.

But he also said for the first time that the reunion is likely to be temporary. He told Canadian TV show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight:

Noel is the one that started this kind of thing. But I'm definitely up for doing a tour. I don't think me and him will ever be in a full-on band again that's done, I think.

He added "But Noel was mentioning, like, a tour for the 2015 '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?' and I think, by then, three years, I will have grown up a bit by then and so will he." The frontman also said following the reunion he would return to Beady Eye and Noel would return to his solo material.

Noel recently expressed an interest in reforming the band in 2015 but then he distanced himself from a reunion saying he would have no involvement.

"He's got my permission to go and play it," he added. "He can play it if he wants. I don't mind. I left that band for a reason and that reason still stands."

Noel Gallagher included nine Oasis songs in his setlist as he played his first ever gig with his High Flying Birds solo band in Dublin last night (October 23).

Kicking off his debut UK and Ireland tour at the city's Olympia Theatre, the singer/guitarist's new group also included a brand new track, titled 'Freaky Teeth', among their 20-song setlist.

After walking onstage to 'Blue Moon' – the anthem of Gallagher's beloved Manchester City, who had beaten arch rivals United 6-1 a few hours before the gig – the band opened up with 1994 Oasis b-side '(It's Good) To Be Free', following it with 'Don't Believe The Truth' track 'Mucky Fingers'.

Later, Gallagher also gave nods to his previous band with renditions of 'Wonderwall', 'Supersonic', 'Talk Tonight' and 'Half The World Away'. Meanwhile, the three song encore was made up entirely of Oasis tracks, starting with 'Don't Look Back In Anger', moving on to 'The Importance Of Being Idle' before closing with 'Little By Little'.

The rest of the set was made up by tracks from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' self-titled debut album, which went straight to Number One in the UK album chart a couple of hours before the gig.

Singles 'The Death Of You And Me' and 'AKA… What A Life' were met with a rapturous reception from the crowd, who chanted Gallagher's name throughout the gig.

Gallagher also engaged in banter with fans about the aforementioned football result, responding to boos from the crowd by saying:
That's piss poor that is. You should be proud of yourself booing a man at his first gig.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds played:

'(It's Good) To Be Free'
'Mucky Fingers'
'Everybody's On The Run'
'Dream On'
'If I Had A Gun'

Garbage - Stupid Girl [Original Version] (HD Official Video)

Butch Vig: 'Garbage cleared excess baggage during five-year hiatus'

Butch Vig: 'Garbage cleared excess baggage during five-year hiatus'

Butch Vig has claimed Garbage's five-year hiatus gave the band the chance to "clear any excess baggage out of [our] head space".

The drummer and producer confirmed to Billboard.com that the band are planning to self-release their new album – their first new studio material since 2005's 'Bleed Like Me' – in spring 2012.

Vig said:

We're out of all our corporate responsibilities from the past, and initially we thought that was terrifying but now we think it's liberating. We're going to put the record out on our own label and just figure out how to licence it and market it because we want it under our control.

Speaking about how the record is likely to sound, he added: "There's lots of elements of things we've always loved: noisy guitars, big electronic beats, atmospheric film moments. [We] wanted to make a record that sounded like something that we want to hear when we're driving the car."

Last month, singer Shirley Manson revealed that the band had rough mixes of 24 songs, with working titles of the tracks including 'Time Will Destroy Everything', 'Blood For Poppies', 'Automatic Systematic Habit', 'Control', 'Lies, Lies, Lies', 'Sugar', 'Not Your Kind Of People', 'TROUBLE', 'Felt', 'Big Brite World', 'Alone' and 'Animal'.

She added that the album was set to be the "best collection of songs of our career".

Coldplay - Paradise

just cool...!

A Resurgence in Vinyl? I'm all for it...!

Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, Adele help vinyl album sales hit six-year high
Beady Eye, PJ Harvey and Bon Iver have also shifted quite a few long-players

Photo: Photo: Danny North/NMEStrong sales of Radiohead, Adele and Arctic Monkeys' new albums have helped to see vinyl LPs record their best sales figures for six years.

According to the Official Charts Company, sales of vinyl albums in 2011 have already outsold the total for the whole of 2010, with over 240,000 LPs shifted, compared to 234,000 in 2010.

If the current sales continue, then sales of vinyl albums are likely to exceed 300,000 for the first time since 2005, when over 351,000 albums were sold.

Radiohead's 'The King Of Limbs' has been the spearhead for the increase in vinyl album sales, selling over 20,000 copies alone, more than 10 times what Adele's '21' has sold, the second best selling album on vinyl of 2011.

Other artists to enjoy strong vinyl sales are PJ Harvey, Beady Eye and Bon Iver.

The 10 best selling vinyl albums of 2011 thus far are as follows:

1. Radiohead – 'The Kings Of Limbs'
2. Adele – '21'
3. Beady Eye – 'Different Gear, Still Speeding'
4. Arctic Monkeys – 'Suck It And See'
5. PJ Harvey – 'Let England Shake'

Coldplay - Paradise (With Lyrics)

Coldplay: ''Mylo Xyloto' is a concept album about love conquering all'

Photo: Photo: Press

Coldplay have said that their new album 'Mylo Xyloto' is a concept album about two characters 'Mylo' and 'Xyloto' who meet and fall in love.

The band release the album, which is their fifth studio LP, a week on Monday (October 24) and have also revealed that it is strongly influenced by dance and urban music.

Speaking to The Sun, drummer Will Champion revealed that the album follows the story of two characters and the struggle they go through to find love.

He said of the concept and characters: "They fall in love and try to escape together, the songs following what happens. 'Charlie Brown' is about running away while 'Paradise' is about feeling lost. The ending is very powerful and about love conquering all."

Bassist Guy Berryman also said that the band felt "bold" on this album and were unafraid to incorporate new influences and sounds, including a guest spot from Rihanna.

He said:

We love Rihanna's music. We love so many different kinds of music that there is really nothing to lose by reflecting that in your record. We've been brave and bold with these songs. There are more modern, urban and dance influences in there. We approached it with a lot of confidence.

Champion also revealed that the album was almost an acoustic release before the band wrote new single 'Paradise', adding: "We'd started an acoustic album but then we wrote 'Paradise' and knew the acoustic thing didn't have legs."

Cage The Elephant - Shake Me Down LIVE Dave Grohl on Drums 2011 HD

Dave Grohl drums for Cage The Elephant after sticksman Jared Champion falls ill

Foo Fighters mainman and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl has temporarily joined Cage The Elephant as their touring drummer. You can watch a video of him playing with the band by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

The band, who are currently supporting the Foo Fighters on their US tour, are presently without their drummer Jared Champion after his appendix burst on Monday (October 10) evening.

Champion, who has since undergone surgery, will also miss tonight's (October 13) gig at the Los Angeles Forum, meaning Grohl will fill in once again behind the kit.

Cage The Elephant's guitarist Lincoln Parrish told Spin that Grohl volunteered his services as soon as he heard about Champion's condition.

He said:

"Dave somehow heard what had happened and called our tour manager. He said, 'Hey, so do you think the guys would go for it?' Our manager was like, 'Um, yeah!!!''

Asked about what the experience was like of playing with Grohl, he replied:

I had to pinch myself. I turned around and Dave Grohl is playing the drums. It's an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Nobody can replace Jared. But it's Dave fucking Grohl. If you're going to be replaced by anybody, it might as well be the best.

The band have indicated that Champion is likely to be fit enough to retake his place on the drum stool in San Diego on Monday (October 17).

Yoko Ono has marked John Lennon's 71st birthday by switching a light beacon on in Iceland tonight (October 9).

The singer turned on the 'Imagine Peace Tower' on Vioey Island, near Reykjavik at 9pm (BST) with son Sean Lennon who was also celebrating his birthday today.

Over 1,000 people joined the pair to sing 'Imagine' as the tower was lit. A beam of light shot 4,000 metres into the air and it projected the words 'Imagine Peace'.

The tower is lit every year on Lennon's birthday until December 8, the anniversary of his death. Ono officially switched the tower of light on for the first time in 2007.

"I hope the 'Imagine Peace Tower' will give light to the strong wishes of world peace from all corners of the planet and give encouragement, inspiration and a sense of solidarity in a world now filled with fear and confusion," Ono said in a statement. "Let us come together to realise a peaceful world."

She later said: "I am so happy that friends and family have joined me here to celebrate John's life. October 9 is also the birthday of my son Sean so today is a day of very deep emotions for me. On this day I urge everyone in the world to imagine peace for our planet."

McCartney told BBC News that his bandmate, who died of lung cancer in 2001 aged 58, was "a great man". He continued:

For years, his music seemed to be dealing with themes that I connected with. I found comfort in them and a hope and a special experience listening to his music. I was fascinated by him.
