Adele: 'I am fucking off for five years'

Adele is planning a five-year break from music following on from her Grammy success on Sunday.

The 'Someone Like You' singer has revealed that she wants to take time off to focus on her relationship with new boyfriend Simon Konecki, with the idea being to return to the industry when she can write a "happy record".

Speaking to the US edition of Vogue, Adele explained: "I am fucking off for four or five years. If I am constantly working, my relationships fail."

She added:
So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record. And be in love and be happy. And then I don't know what I'll do. Get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.

The comments come from the same interview in which Adele stated she's sick of being a "bitter witch" and will never write another album about a break-up.

Adele picked up six awards at Sunday night's Grammys, with '21' producer Paul Epworth was also named Producer Of The Year.

The Black Keys have said that they "honestly feel bad" for artists like Lana Del Rey.

The band, who released their seventh studio album 'El Camino' in December last year, told MTV that they felt sorry for bands trying to outlive hype and subsequent backlash.

When asked about the 'Video Games' singer's sudden rise to fame and her much-discussed performance on Saturday Night Live, guitarist Dan Auerbach said: "On some level, we've seen that Lana Del Rey thing since we first started, like, all of a sudden this new band would be headlining festivals, and we're like, 'Wait, how did they get that? We've been here for two, three, four, five years and we're still working our way up. But then they're gone. Just as quickly as they get up there, they disappear."

His bandmate, drummer Patrick Carney, added:

It's different for everybody. It took us a really long time to get on Saturday Night Live, and it took her a shorter amount of time. But I honestly feel bad for a lot of bands that are starting out with the way things are… The trends kind of flip over so fast - something's cool and not cool and it all happens within two to three months.

Last week, Del Rey saw her debut album 'Born To Die' go straight in at Number One in the Official UK Album Chart. The LP sold more than 117,000 copies in a week, making the debut the fastest-selling album of 2012 so far, and, in selling more than 100,000 copies, it also outsold the rest of the Top 5 combined.

A new museum dedicated to the life of Johnny Cash is set to open in Nashville later this year.

The legendary country singer and guitarist passed away in 2003 at the age of 71, but would have turned 80 this month. The new museum will be operated by Bill Miller, a collector of Johnny Cash memorabilia, and will contain items donated by Cash's family as well as items from - and the original sign of - The House of Cash, the Johnny Cash museum in Henderson, Tennessee which closed in 1999 and features in the iconic video for Cash's single 'Hurt'.

The former residence of Cash and his wife June Carter Cash, was sold to The Bee Gees' Barry Gibb after their deaths, but burnt down in 2007 while the property was being restored.

The new museum will be situated on Nashville's main strip, Lower Broadway, "right in the middle of the hubbub," explained Cash's son John Carter Cash to AP.

"He's been an incredible supporter of my dad and one of the largest collectors of memorabilia," added Cash's daughter, Rosanne Cash, of the new museum's founder, Miller. "If anybody has the whole structure to put up a museum, he does. So I have a lot of trust in him and I think it's great at this point. I think he'll do something with dignity and class that's historically important, not some kitschy thing. I'm very interested in seeing what he does."

A project to preserve Cash's childhood home in Dyess, Arkansas is also currently underway. The house will be restored to what it looked like when Cash was a child in the 1930s and 1940s.

Liam Gallagher: 'I'd rather be in Oasis than Beady Eye'

Liam Gallagher has admitted that he would still rather be in Oasis than in his current band Beady Eye.

The frontman, who is currently working on new material with his new band, has revealed that though he likes being in Beady Eye, he'd still rather be playing with Oasis and that people have got the wrong idea if they think he likes not being in the band anymore.

He told Live Magazine:

If people think I'm going to be happy about the Oasis split, then they’re wrong. Even though I love Beady Eye, I’d prefer to still be in Oasis, because that was my thing. Oasis was my life.

Gallagher also said that though he misses Oasis, he doesn't miss the huge venues they used to play in and that he much preferred the small shows he's been playing with Beady Eye.

He said of this: "It’s been great doing all these little shows, going back to square one. It's good to see the crowd and hear them. Long may that continue. Big gigs are soulless masses of people – I'm glad I've done them, but I don’t miss them. I’ve got nothing to prove anyway."

Gallagher also hit out at "this new disease of indie student music" and said that most of the new bands of today "looked like tramps". He added: "Look at these grungers – they just walk around filthy with matted hair and smelly T-shirts, looking like tramps – where's the park bench and the Special Brew? And I despise this new disease of indie student music – Bloc Party and all that nonsense."

RIP Don Cornelius

Tragic news hit us today. As Time reports, Soul Train creator/host Don Cornelius was was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, CA home from a self inflicted gunshot wound.

In 1970, Cornelius, a former Chicago disc jockey and radio reporter, launched “Soul Train,” an R&B-themed dance show on WCIU and moved it to syndication the next year with stations in several cities picking it up. The show later moved to Los Angeles and became an instant hit. The show ran in syndication for 25 years before it went off the air in 2006.

Cornelius also suffered personal drama due to bitter divorce proceedings in 2009. The consequence was that Cornelius suffered "significant health issues" and wanted to "finalize this divorce before I die." In 2008, Cornelius was arrestedbeating up his wife. He pled no contest to misdemeanor domestic violence and was placed on three years probation. His probation just terminated and the divorce was granted in 2010. Rest in Peace.

Adele - Chasing Pavements

Adele to make live comeback at Grammy Awards

Adele to make live comeback at Grammy Awards

Adele has confirmed that she will make her live comeback at the 2012 Grammy Awards on February 12.

The '21' star released a statement confirming her long-rumoured performing at the ceremony, which will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Her appearance will take place shortly before she makes her UK live comeback at the O2 Arena on February 21 for this year's Brit Awards.

The singer said she was "immensely proud" to be playing her first live performance since she went under the knife to have vocal chord microsurgery in America last year, in order to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp. Her condition had forced her to cancel all of her remaining live dates of 2011, as she scrapped 10 scheduled dates in North America and six shows in the UK in order to have the surgery.

She said:

It's an absolute honour to be included in such a night and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.

Adele also took to Twitter to confirm the news, writing: "Ima be, Ima be singing at the Grammys. It's been so long I started to forget I was a singer! I can't wait, speak soon xx"

Adele is among the nominees for this year's Grammy Awards, having been shortlisted for Album Of The Year for ‘21’ and Best Solo Pop performance.

Kanye West leads this year’s nominations, with seven nods while Foo Fighters are just behind him with six.

The Beach Boys, who announced their comeback last month, have also hinted that they may perform at the event, with guitarist Al Jardine promising a "surprise" which will be "very exciting".
