Red Hot Chili Peppers discuss reasons for calling new album 'I'm With You'

Red Hot Chili Peppers' frontman Anthony Kiedis has said that the band opted to call their new album 'I'm With You' as it sums up how they currently feel.

The singer revealed that it was new guitarist
Josh Klinghoffer who came up with the name of the record and that producer Rick Rubin had talked them out of naming it after one of the album's song titles.

Speaking to
MTV News, Kiedis said of the album title: "It seems pretty open, pretty apropos to where the band is, what the band's doing, how the record wants to be related to, or related with. It's open, and there's not really a negative connotation. It's inviting."

Kiedis continued: "We thought of calling it a song title off the record, and when I mentioned that to Rick [Rubin], he said, 'That just makes it seem like we don't have enough ideas."

He then revealed that new guitarist Klinghoffer, who replaced longtime player John Frusciante in 2009, had come up with the title.

He added: "
Josh showed up one day, maybe a day before there was some sort of deadline for a title, and he wrote ['I'm With You'] on a piece of paper and we all kind of put our eyes on it at the same time and went: 'That is the title of our record.'"

'I'm With You'
is due for release on August 30. The first single from the album, 'The Adventure Of Raindance Maggie', will come out on July 18.

Spotify to launch in US

Spotify to launch in US
Spotify, the website that allows music to be streamed for free, is to try and crack the American market.

On its
official website Spotify announced that, "The award-winning music service that's taken Europe by storm will soon be landing on US shores. Millions of tracks ready to play instantly, on your computer and your phone."

Details remain sketchy as to whether the site will keep the European system of giving customers limited 'free' music and a premium subscription service.

With the backing of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, as well as the four major music companies, Universal, Sony, Warner and EMI, Spotify could well have a large impact on iTunes and Apple.

The website has also been given the thumbs up by
Trent Reznor, who tweeted earlier, "Finally! Spotify is coming to the US. I've been using this for a while and it's great."

No official date has been announced for the US launch but some industry experts believe it could be as early as this month (July).

Earlier today (July 6)
Spotify signed a deal with Virgin Media to allow users to stream music through their televisions.

It'll be interesting to see how this fares. With everything going to a "cloud based" system it might be just the thing I'll sign up for and end my cd/record buying career!!

Noel Gallagher Reveals Details of Two New Solo Albums

Oasis mastermind Noel Gallagher has announced that he will be self-releasing his first solo album, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, through his Sour Mash label on October 17th in Britain and November 8th in the United States. The set, which the songwriter produced with frequent collaborator David Sardy, will include the songs "(I Wanna Live in a Dream in My) Record Machine," "Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks," "AKA...What a Life!" and "Stop the Clocks," a cut that shares its title with an Oasis hits compilation and dates back to that band's 2001 sessions for Heathen Chemistry.

In a press conference held earlier today, Gallagher said that he has completed two albums since quitting Oasis in 2009. The singer did not mention a timetable for the release of the second album, which he recorded in collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, the duo otherwise known as the DJ group Future Sound of London.

Gallagher plans on taking Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - which is the name of his new band as well as the new record - on the road this fall just before the album hits stores. Given the singer's well-established Beatles fixation, it's worth noting that the name of his solo project is strikingly similar to Paul McCartney and Wings.
